When you crave something that's both sweet and good for
you, it's hard to beat a fresh Florida orange.
Not only are oranges deliciously sweet and juicy, they're
low in sodium, cholesterol and saturated fat, and are an
excellent source of potassium, dietary fiber, and Vitamins
A and C.
The best oranges don't
get that way by accident. They require a climate that offers
great soil and protection from frost and cold temperatures.
Harvey's family-owned groves in Florida's Indian River region
offer all this and more.
The Indian River, and
Merritt Island in particular (located right in the middle
of the river and home to our groves),
is the best place in the world to grow delicious, healthy oranges. Merritt
Island is protected by warm, brackish currents and soft ocean
breezes. They protect our trees in winter and keep the
groves cool in summer. It's the perfect place to
raise plump, sweet oranges!
The Harvey family planted their first groves on Merritt
Island way back in 1926. Thoughout the company's 84-year
history, there's always been a member of the family
taking care of the groves, making sure every Florida
Indian River orange is picked by hand at the peak
of ripeness, then carefully packed and shipped in refrigerated
trucks.
